Newish (2012) restrictions on getting too close to the penguins on the Curio Bay tidal shelf. This is OK, as the views are great and no senseless people harass the penguins any more.

While at Curio/Porpoise Bay, I was told that the Hector Dolphins show up mid- to late-November. I don’t think the book covered that, so I just wanted to share.

  2. Kristin D Says:

We waited from 6pm to 9:30pm, when we finally saw three penguins. The wait was 100% worth it. They were majestic to view. Unfortunately, the ranger said that only four of the former seven pairs returned this year (Dec 2015).
