    We’d never done this walk before; we opted for Roy’s Peak last time, which is tedious in comparison, although it does have some good views. The eastern route to the top is more difficult than the western and some people were turning back. There was a sign warning of track damage and some narrow muddy sections before an unpleasantly angled rock has to be negotiated : verging on a bad step/mauvais pas. Anyone not fancying the eastern approach should go up via the western route, because the views are too good to miss.
